About Botryoidal Formation

A botryoidal texture is one in which the mineral takes on a globular external form resembling a bunch of grapes — from the Greek botruoeidēs. While chrysocolla and malachite rarely form as large individual crystals, they’re often found in these stunning globular masses, displaying gorgeous banded patterns full of concentric rings when formed and polished.
